About Assateague Lighthouse

Assateague Lighthouse is a historic, 142-foot brick lighthouse on Assateague Island that has served as an active navigation aid since 1867. Distinguished by its red-and-white striped daymark and a spiral staircase with windowed landings, it remains maintained within Assateague Island National Seashore. Extensive restorations in 2008 and 2013 replaced windows, rebuilt the lower gallery deck, and repainted the tower.
