Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge protects the largest contiguous, high-elevation wetland complex in West Virginia, home to rare plants and animals. Established in 1994, it conserves a mosaic of wetlands, forests, and early successional habitats that support migratory birds and threatened and endangered species. Visitors can explore refuge roads and trails and stop by the visitor center, open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
