Great Point Lighthouse sits within the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge on a large, undeveloped barrier beach at the tip of Nantucket. The refuge encompasses beaches on both Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic, maritime oak forests, and red cedar savannah, and is popular with birders, anglers, and seal-watchers. Access is via the Wauwinet Gatehouse; walking is free, but driving on the beach requires a permit.
