About Historic Botanical Gardens
Adjacent to the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods at Texas Woman’s University, the Historic Botanical Gardens began in 1930 as both a biology laboratory and a destination for garden lovers. Today this seven-acre haven features a shaded rock garden with benches, native sandstone terraces, and the Texas Pond shaped like the Lone Star State, with markers identifying trees and shrubs. The charming setting has long been a favorite backdrop for wedding photography and peaceful strolls among flora and fauna.
