About Somesville Museum and Gardens
Somesville Museum & Gardens, part of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society, explores the island’s history through exhibits and a lovely Heirloom Garden. Constructed in 1981, the museum overlooks the mill pond and Somes Harbor, with grounds and a memorial bridge accessible year-round. Open June–September (Tue–Sat, 10 am–4 pm), the site permits use of its buildings, grounds, and parking for ceremonies and events by permission.
