About Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge preserves approximately 60,000 acres of mixed-grass prairie, ancient granite mountains, and freshwater lakes and streams near Lawton/Ft. Sill in southwestern Oklahoma. Known for free-roaming herds of bison, longhorn, and Rocky Mountain elk, the refuge offers abundant wildlife viewing alongside fishing, bird watching, hiking, camping, kayaking, and photography opportunities. A visitor center and Doris Campground support year-round visits.
