About Baranof Castle State Historic Site
Commonly referred to as Castle Hill, Baranof Castle State Historic Site is one of Alaska’s most significant historic locations, overlooking downtown Sitka. A fully accessible walkway leads to the hilltop, where interpretive panels share the site’s Tlingit and Russian history and offer outstanding views of the city and waterfront. Designated a National Historic Landmark, the park features trails and opportunities for hiking and exploration.
